Oil, Props and Paint - Aviation Art

acrylic paintings

These are paintings produced using acrylic paints. Acrylics are great for a more immediate result, but they suffer from temperature extremes. Usually with aviation art it is quite warm in a hangar or on an airfield, so the acrylic tends to dry too quickly. This means that you have to work fast and keep the medium moist. I don't like using extenders, so tend to keep my palette loaded and have plenty of water to hand. Again, most of my work is done from life rather than photographs, and this is the case with these unless it says so otherwise.
