This painting captures two Bristol Beaufighters as they scream across at wave height somewhere in the Pacific having raided Japanese shipping. Despite the apparent proximity to the sea, Beaufighters really did race across the sea at this level, or even lower in some instances. There were accounts of some returning to base with their propeller tips bent forward having caught a wave!
