Dominic Berry’s landscapes begin with the changing light, colour and atmosphere of the seasons. He is particularly drawn to May, when fresh lime greens emerge after winter and the land feels newly alive. By late summer, ripened crops bring dry yellows into the landscape, set against the deeper greens of the trees and the gold of the early evening sun.

Autumn offers a different kind of drama: strong light moving across a rolling field beneath a dark bank of cloud. Yet the moments that interest Dominic most cannot always be anticipated. He carries a small leather-bound sketchbook and fine liner pens with him throughout the year, ready to record whatever catches his eye.
