Dominic is drawn to old buildings, particularly those beginning to show the effects of time and weather. A door slipping from its hinges, stones with their pointing worn away, or vegetation taking hold can make a building more compelling to him.

He looks closely at the quieter details: timber bleached grey by years of exposure, its grain worn back around old ironwork; corrugated roof sheets weathered by storms; gaps opening in the walls of an abandoned building standing alone in a field. These signs of age give him both the textures and the stories he wants to draw.
