​I work in a variety of media and find influence from so many things; it might be a torn piece of paper hanging from a lamp post which just happens to be caught by the light in a particular way just as I see it, or the pattern formed by hundreds of shoes on the pile of a thick carpet in the foyer of a theatre, or the burst of emotion felt when a certain song comes on the radio, but three artists in particular have always held a special place in my artistic endeavours : JMW Turner and his travel sketchbooks (you must see them if you haven't yet), as well as the master of light Joaquín Sorolla and American portraitist John Singer Sargent.
