Landscapes
Spring is my favourite time of year, and May in particular. I adore lime green when the land has at last come out of the slumber of winter and is vibrantly full with lush new growth and the smells of freshness: I just love it.
Late summer brings the dried yellows of the ripened crops, contrasted with the darkening greens on the leaves of nearby trees, as the early evening sun turns the light to a luminous gold, enhancing the contrasts in tones and enrichening the colours.
Autumn can bring those magical landscape moments when you are lucky enough to get strong light spreading out away from you over a rolling field and have thunderously dark wall of cloud reaching right down to the horizon.
Peppered throughout the year are those unexpected moments that catch you unawares. They can come at any moment and that is why I always have my much-loved little leather-bound sketchbook with me at all times, with a few good quality fineliners in my bag; my favourite way to draw.
